At Arboretum Coffee, we see ourselves as a living arboretum— where the cultivation of community and personal growth is akin to the careful tending of trees. Our mission is simple: to support our neighbors from various countries, especially refugees striving for a fresh start, and to cultivate a culture of flourishing for individuals and communities alike. We’re committed to providing holistic support that respects refugees’ and immigrants’ dignity and promotes their growth.
Through personal and professional development and hands-on learning in a welcoming work environment, immigrants and refugees lay the groundwork for upward economic mobility and real community. Our vision extends beyond integration; we’re building a new society together, one that is stronger and more vibrant through the active participation of both locals and immigrants.
The seeds of Arboretum Coffee were sown in 2016, amidst the global refugee crisis, drawing on our founder, Hannah’s, personal Middle Eastern heritage and ignited her passion for action. Her resolve to create a community space that mirrors the warmth of a home and the familiarity of family for those who have lost theirs has been the cornerstone of our mission. Hannah’s experiences as a caseworker at The Matthews House highlighted the urgent need for a more dignified, holistic approach to support and empowerment for this community, further shaping our vision. Her journey through academia and volunteer work culminated in the creation of Arboretum Coffee, a place centered on coffee, community, and opportunity.
Arboretum Coffee is more than a coffee shop. It represents a collective effort to dismantle the barriers hindering refugees and immigrants from thriving. Our space serves as a hub for fostering relationships and opportunities that promote dignity, healing, and growth. We invite everyone to join us in this mission, contributing to a future that is more welcoming for all. Together, we are laying the groundwork for Northern Colorado to become a beacon of empowerment for the refugee and immigrant communities.
