The Challenge & Vision

For many refugees and immigrants, building a stable and integrated life in the U.S. comes with major systemic barriers, including limited access to essential skills like English proficiency, U.S. work experience, and professional networks. Without access to the right resources and support, it’s easy to feel stuck, disconnected, and unsure of the path forward.

We believe in a Colorado where refugees and immigrants are not just welcomed, but empowered—as essential contributors to our community and economy. When everyone has the opportunity to thrive, we create a stronger, more vibrant future for all.

Our Approach

At Arboretum Coffee, we do more than serve great coffee—we serve opportunity. Our paid apprenticeship program provides hands-on job training, mentorship, and leadership development, ensuring that refugees and immigrants gain the skills, confidence, and connections they need to build careers and meaningful community relationships.

By creating a space of belonging and bridging cultures through coffee, we’re breaking down barriers and opening doors to lasting economic and communal opportunity.

Meet Maria

Maria’s story is one of compassion, perseverance, and leadership. When she arrived in Northern Colorado from Venezuela, she brought with her a wealth of determination and a remarkable ability to build deep and trusting relationships.

Like many immigrants, Maria faced challenges—adjusting to a new language, navigating an unfamiliar culture, and striving to find a place where she could thrive. But these challenges didn’t define her. What defined Maria was her unwavering commitment to community and her belief in a brighter future.
